What is the OpenOrg connector?

The OpenOrg connector lets you use OpenOrg directly inside Claude — on the web or in Claude Desktop — using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once connected, Claude can search the OpenOrg knowledge base, browse Openverse, and run OpenOrg's people-ops skills as ready-made prompts, all without leaving your chat.

What it gives your AI:

  • Search - semantic search across OpenOrg's curated playbooks, policies, progression frameworks, articles, and reference docs
  • Documents - pull the full text of a specific knowledge base document on demand
  • Openverse - search and read the community directory of people, talent, and culture resources
  • Skills as prompts - the same specialist workflows you use in Open Org AI (Roadmap Builder, Survey Analyser, Competency Framework Builder, and more), available as slash-command prompts

It is read-only. The connector can read and search shared OpenOrg content. It cannot create, edit, or delete anything, and it never has access to other users' private workspaces, chats, or documents.

Who it's for: any OpenOrg Pro member who prefers to work in Claude, or who wants OpenOrg's knowledge available alongside their other tools.

Note: The connector surfaces OpenOrg's shared, proprietary content, so it's a Pro feature — an active OpenOrg subscription is required to connect. Free members can see it under Account Settings → Connections, where they'll be prompted to upgrade.
