This video remains with you after you've finished, isn't too serious, but crucially conveys a message. It shows the viewer that the team are laser-focused on delivering for customers at all costs, even if it means working outside of typical hours at times. The power of a team pulling together to make something happen. We think it tells a great story.
Story, purpose, mission
Story, mission and vision are everything when it comes to building affinity with your audience. Every business has a story. Every company has been set up for a reason. A good careers site can convey that clearly and ensure applicants know exactly why this company exists.
They should
- Be unique
- Tell a story
- Point out a problem to be solved
- Connect people to a purpose
They shouldn't
- Feel engineered
- Lack purpose
- Be packed with buzzwords
- Confuse
Oddbox just have these 3 paragraphs, but it tells a clear story: from the moment the idea was conceived, the problem they spotted, the extent of the problem, and how they decided to fix it. After reading you are left with a very clear understanding as to why this company has been set up.

Not to pick on Lightspeed again, but this paragraph on their careers page doesn't strike the same chord as Oddbox. The story doesn't really tell you why the business was set up, the problem it's trying to solve, and therefore why someone should come along for the ride.
